ReFlex is a software solution that enables aggregators to create a powerful Virtual Power Plant. The Virtual Power Plant enables the effective use of large amounts of flexible energy from many large and/or small devices for various purposes. Since the flexibility that is available in solar panels, electric car batteries, etc. can be used both for the energy market and for the associated electricity services, its flexibility value can be stockpiled. ReFlex is compatible with several open smart grid standards such as EFI, USEF and OCPI and is easy to implement into an aggregator’s existing architecture.
The key element of ReFlex is the Flexibility Monitor. This monitor can provide a detailed understanding of the flexible power available within a cluster of connected assets (devices). It can also calculate the consequences of the various dispatch options. This makes it a perfect aggregation tool for all parties who want to commercialise flexible energy. ReFlex is being developed as part of the Horizon2020 Interflex project, which is funded by the EU.
