On October 24, 2024, the Association of Heat Pumps, in collaboration with the Flexiblepower Alliance Network Foundation - FAN, will host an informational session on grid congestion and heat pumps. The event aims to provide clarity to members, partners, and other stakeholders about the grid congestion issue in low-voltage networks, the role and impact of heat pumps, and the steps the industry should take to actively contribute to a solution.
The event will cover key topics such as the increasing electrification driven by the energy transition, which is placing greater demand on the electricity grid. While grid operators are working to expand capacity, progress is slow, particularly in low-voltage networks, where the congestion issue is becoming critical. More information HERE
Speakers:
During the knowledge session, expert speakers such as Robin Quax from TKI Urban Energy, Rob Martens from Netbeheer Nederland, Energy Consultant Winifred Roggekamp, and Adeline Houtart from the EHPA will guide you through this challenging topic, separating fact from fiction through various knowledge sessions, all under the expert moderation of Frank Agterberg from the Dutch Heat Pump Association.
Topics:
Context of Electrification: Overview of electrification as a key path to sustainability, including infrastructure requirements and the interplay between electricity generation and consumption.
Grid Congestion Solutions: Examination of low-voltage grid congestion causes and potential solutions from various sectors.
Role of Heat Pumps: Focus on how heat pumps can mitigate grid congestion, with discussions on necessary signals, legal frameworks, and incentives for owners to adjust or turn off heat pumps.
