The Flexible power Alliance Network (FAN), established in 2013, aims to provide open standards for unlocking flexible energy in energy systems. FAN wants to facilitate an open and fair energy system, where local surpluses in the supply and demand of sustainable energy are absorbed by flexibility in the supply and demand of energy. FAN’s aim is to make maximum use of and unlock flexibility in the energy system by means of open standards. This is a safeguard that the future supply of sustainable energy will remain reliable, affordable and accessible.
FAN’s goal is to create a broad support base in Europe for its philosophy, revolving around an open standard for the flexible availability of energy, free access to the market, unlocking as many potential sources of flexible energy as possible and offering freedom of choice for end users.
Only by working together can we establish a sustainable and future-proof energy system, and that is why FAN is open to working with all parties that can help to optimally integrate flexible energy into the energy system. This is an indispensable step in the energy transition.
FAN is looking to the following groups for cooperation:
- Policymakers
- Developers of Smart Grid services
- Producers of smart devices
- Grid operators and other parties who develop and operate smart grids
- Aggregators
- Architects and project developers
- Users of smart devices
- Consumers who generate their own energy, e.g. through solar panels
- Business end users who generate their own energy
FAN is looking for partnerships with the aim of making as much flexibility available as possible. In doing so, we mainly focus on end consumers who have so far provided little flexibility. We would like to inform these end consumers about flexibility and the importance and possibilities of unlocking flexibility.
